Security Solutions of America is fortunate to employ a large number of veterans as part of our patrol and virtual guard teams. This Valentine’s Day, we offer a few simple ways you can show appreciation and care for the men and women currently in military service or who have given years of their lives to secure our country.
Donate
Organizations from Wounded Warrior Project to Operation Write Home provide ample opportunities and platforms to support veterans with money and resources. Find ways to give here.
Write
Active duty soldiers appreciate receiving notes and letters they receive from citizens. Through programs like Operation Gratitude, you can send notes of thanks and other treats to men and women in service.
Write (Back)
As much as they enjoy receiving letters, many in active duty love to write home. By donating funds, or blank or handmade greeting cards to organizations like Operation Write Home you can make that possible.
Treat
Is it a coincidence that Girl Scout Cookie time and Valentine’s Day fall so close on the calendar? We think not. The Girl Scouts “Gift of Caring” and “Cookie Share” programs allow girls to collect donations of cookies for military personnel or local charities. Find a local cookie sale here.
Talk & Listen
Remember that everyone has a story. On Valentine’s Day – or any day – take the time to ask a veteran about their service. Simple conversation starters like “what was your moment in your time in the service” can open an opportunity for them to tell you a story that is dear to their heart.
